| The Long Trail |
The world famous 'Long
Trail', one of the ten best hiking trails in the world,
goes within 10 miles of the Richford Town Hall. Being on
the Canadian border, Richford makes a perfect place to
start your 'Long Trail' hike. (The Long Trail's northern
terminus is "Journey's End Cabin", which is
located within 2 miles of the Richford Town border, off

| Jay Peak Ski Area |
From Richford you can look
east to the mountains and see Jay Peak, which offers
nearby downhill skiing facilities, outdoor pool, and
resort accommodations. Click

opportunities (with owner's permission where necessary)
exist in the Richford area. |
| Mont Sutton |
Only seven miles away from
Richford, right across the Canadian Border, downhill
skiing facilities are available at Mont
Sutton. |
| Lake Carmi State Park |
Lake Carmi is a bucolic
setting among the hills of Vermont near Richford. Click

| The Missisquoi River |
The Missisquoi River flows
from East Richford to Lake Champlain, where it enters
the Missisquoi Wildlife Refuge. The Town of Richford
plans to construct three canoe access areas and ample
fishing opportunities abound. The Missisquoi Refuge
includes most of the Missisquoi Delta where it enters
Lake Champlain. Situated in the northwest corner of
Vermont, the refuge is a few hundred yards from the
Canadian border. The total area of the refuge is 5,839
acres consisting of woodland swamp, shrub swamp, old
fields undergoing succession, and commercial forest. The
floodplain and marshes of the Missisquoi Delta provide a
major nesting and feeding area for migrating waterfowl.
Nest boxes supplement natural cavities for wood ducks,
common goldeneyes, and hooded mergansers. |

| Natural Areas |
Several distinctive and
well established wetlands exist in Richford Center,
South Richford, and along the banks of the Missisquoi
River. They provide a natural habitat for the abundant
local wildlife. |
| Bike Touring |
Bike touring and offroad
biking are popular activities in the Richford area. The
Central Vermont railroad bed has been converted into an
offroad bike path and runs from Richford to St. Albans
along the Missisqoui River. The trail accesses many
points along its 26.5 mile length. Plans to extend this
offroad trail into Canada are under way. Click

| Snowmobiling |
Snowmobiling is a popular
activity in northern Vermont. There are several public
trails in and around Richford. The Missisquoi Bear Cats
are a local snowmobiling group. Click

| The Green Mountains |
Richford is on the western
side of the Green Mountains. The Green Mountains offer
some of the best fall foliage in the world. With
countless brook trout streams, hiking trails and
campgrounds, there is always something your family can
enjoy in the Green Mountains of Vermont. |

| Richford Stage |
A large stage and
auditorium seating over 300 people, is home to two local
annual favorites: The Hometown Follies and Christmas
Choir.
The auditorium is housed within the Richford Town Hall,
and is known for its fine acoustics. |
| Golf |
Established in 1930,
Richford has a scenic nine hole golf course that is
located approximately one mile from the Richford Town
Hall. This golf course is considered by most, to be one
of Vermont's most scenic courses. |
| Parks |
Richford has several
parks. Davis Park on River Street is on the Missisquoi
River and several community events take place there.
Davis Park is also a favorite starting and ending point
for a Missisquoi canoeing trip. Richford Memorial Park
is located near the Richford Town Hall. The annual
Christmas tree lighting and Fourth of July fireworks
display take place in the Richford Memorial Park. (The
proposed Missisquoi River Park is still in the planning
phase, and will encompass the properties between Main
Street and the River creating an 8+ acre park for the
Town.) |
| Sports Fields |
The Richford Playground
offers two baseball diamonds, a soccer field, and a
outdoor paved basketball court. During baseball
season there is almost always a game going on. |
| Ice Skating |
Located in Richford
Memorial Park is a free public skating rink. The skating
rink is sponsored by the Lions club and the PTA. If you
don't have skates, don't worry, free skate usage is also
available. |
| Gymnasiums |
Both the elementary and
the high school house gymnasiums. The high school gym
was recently constructed and is state of the art. The
elementary gym is used for public school related events
like the science fair, the art show and band recitals. |
