SPECIAL SELECTBOARD MEETING
RICHFORD TOWN HALL
RICHFORD, VERMONT

AUGUST 25, 2008

Chairman
Eric Collins called the special meeting to order at 3:30 PM with
members Linda Collins, Mary Mankin, Robert St. Pierre, and Norris
Tillotson present. Also present were Laura Ovitt, Connie Burns and
Larry Carr.

The board discussed the merits of paying overtime
for more law enforcement coverage. People should call 911 to report
criminal activity rather than calling the sheriff’s dispatch.

Larry
Carr discussed reviving the neighborhood watch, saying he would respond
when people called. He asked about posting “no loitering” or “no
trespassing” signs to give law enforcement the authority to move people
along.

Robert St. Pierre congratulated Connie Burns for her work
moderating the special public hearing on law enforcement on August 18.
The other board members echoed his praise.

The board discussed updating and enacting the bicycle ordinance.

The
board worked on a proposed loitering ordinance which, when ready, will
replace the existing (unenforceable) ordinance. The board agreed to
post a sign stating “no loitering after posted hours” at the town hall.

The board agreed the next regular meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 2 due to Labor Day.

Motion made by Linda Collins, seconded by Robert St. Pierre, to adjourn at 5:30 PM.
